SPIPA Entrance Exam Pattern
The selection process has two stages: a preliminary MCQ exam and an essay test. There is no interview.
Stage 1: Preliminary Exam (MCQ, OMR-based)

Both papers are set in Gujarati and English. There’s a 33% negative marking penalty for every wrong answer or for marking more than one answer to a question. An unattempted question carries no penalty.
Both papers are compulsory — a candidate absent in either paper is not considered for the merit list.
Stage 2: Essay Test
Candidates shortlisted from the Stage-1 merit list (based on category-wise cut-offs) sit for a written essay test. In the most recent completed cycle (2025-26), this was a single essay of around 1,000 words for 100 marks, to be completed in 1.5 hours. Final Merit
Final merit combines Stage-1 and Stage-2 marks, then applies Gujarat’s current reservation policy category-wise. Admission to a specific SPIPA training centre depends on your merit rank, category, and centre preference — clearing the exam gives you eligibility, not an automatic seat.
SPIPA Entrance Exam Centres
The 2026-27 exam is expected at six cities: Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, and Mehsana. Gandhinagar is new versus the 2025-26 cycle, which had five centres: Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, and Mehsana. Your final centre is allotted based on seat availability and confirmed on your hall ticket — you can’t choose it directly.
SPIPA Entrance Exam Syllabus
Paper 1 – General Studies covers current national and international events, Indian history and the national movement, Indian and world geography, Indian polity and governance, economic and social development, environment and biodiversity, and general science.
Paper 2 – CSAT covers comprehension, interpersonal and communication skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision-making and problem-solving, general mental ability, English comprehension (Class X level), and basic numeracy and data interpretation (Class X level).
